Salmonfly Time!

May 25, 2013

Salmonflies!!   That’s been the buzz around the Henry’s Fork on the eve of Opening Day (May 25).

Lodge assistant manager, Ryan Anstine went down to Vernon Bridge last night to see for himself.  Sure enough, salmon flies in the bushes, along the banks and in the air.  He shot these photos and had time enough to hook some nice fish as well.

The hatch will move up the river past Ashton, into the Cardiac Canyon, right behind the Lodge and up into the Box Canyon over the next two weeks.  We will be sweeping salmonflies off our back porch next week.

The golden stones will follow the same pattern after the salmonflies, so we’ll have dry fly fishing over the big bugs for the next month.  Hope to see you here.
