Late summer on the Henry's Fork

August is terrestrial time on the Henry’s Fork. Beetles, ants, and especially hoppers can turn our big rainbows into greedy opportunists. It’s a time when you can use terrestrial dries on the upper river to reliably bring up some large and otherwise finicky fish. The guides have discovered this opportunity and have been highly successful at setting up their clients for memorable days, whether floating or wading.

Here is some great footage from two fantastic guides, Colton Schofield and Tyler Treece, showing us what they love to do on a "guides' day off" this time of year -- fish hoppers and beetles on the Henry's Fork!

Late summer is also an ideal time to visit other nearby waters like the South Fork of the Snake, Teton, and Madison, where a large dry and a small dropper is the ticket for a highly productive float. It’s prime time for sight fishing for the large cruising rainbows and browns on nearby Hebgen and Quake Lake. Casting to the gulpers in the morning and then floating the Madison in the afternoon is a wonderful opportunity for a day of dry fly fishing.

Come join us in August to experience this notable time of the season! Contact us via phone (208-558-7953) or email to set up your trip.

Warm, stable weather also makes it a great time to take a day trip into Yelllowstone for fishing or touring of the Park.

Looking forward to seeing you this season!
