The Lodge Team is Back

We’re so pleased to announce that all of our managers, our head chef, and sous chef will be back for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. General Manager, Jamie Short, will have Jeff Thompson and Sasha Winiker returning as his outstanding assistant managers, and chef Matthew Dusharme and sous chef Allison Condon will continue to create their varied and innovative dishes. Jamie, Sasha and Jeff are seasoned hospitality professionals at high end resorts and chefs Matthew and Allison plus a pastry & dessert chef give us culinary talent unmatched in the fishing lodge world. We’re confident that you’ll enjoy the finest service and dining ever on a fly fishing trip in addition to some outstanding fishing.

We look forward to welcoming you this season, whether you’re new to the Lodge or one of our many repeat guests! Please get in touch with us to book your trip if you have not already.

Jamie Short, General Manager
Jamie began his career at The Inn at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach and went on to become the Innkeeper for The Post Ranch Inn, in Big Sur, California. From 2001-2005 he served as the General Manager of Henry’s Fork Lodge and, in recent years, Jamie and his family have been on the move throughout the West and New Zealand. We are thrilled to welcome Jamie back.

Try Some New Waters This Season

The Henry’s Fork is deservedly the marquee river in our area. The quality and variety of fishing has made it the most beloved trout river in the country. Its 50 miles of varied water has something for everybody. The Henry’s Fork and the Madison just across the border in Montana justifiably form the backbone of the fishing program in our area.

Often overlooked are other terrific fishing opportunities within range of a day trip from the Lodge. We can arrange guides for you from five different outfitters that collectively cover an enormous territory with an unmatched variety of excellent waters. Here are just some of the places you may want to try this season:

Lakes

  • Hebgen Lake has the gulpers, large risers that cruise and rise for dense hatches just outside West Yellowstone

  • Quake Lake is a beautiful lake just downstream of Hebgen that has hordes of risers and a huge variety of hatches

  • Island Park Reservoir is a nearby lake with numerous coves and large rainbows

  • Henry’s Lake is the most prolific and popular fly fishing lake in Idaho with large cutthroats, rainbow/cutthroat hybrids and the state record brook trout

Streams

  • The South Fork of the Snake, the larger fork of the Snake, has the largest population of trout in Idaho, including large cutthroats, browns and rainbows

  • The Teton River is like a smaller version of the Henry’s Fork with a gentle upper spring creek section and an isolated canyon section, both with large cutthroats

  • The Gallatin within Yellowstone Park and Montana and several of its tributaries has rainbows, and browns close to the road and in delightful hike-in stretches.

  • The Yellowstone Park stretch of the Madison with its Firehole and Gibbon tributaries offers wonderful fishing for browns and rainbows in magnificent settings with abundant wildlife.

  • Other Yellowstone Park waters like the Yellowstone River, Slough Creek, Soda Butte Creek and the Lamar river offer outstanding fishing for large cutthroats if you’re up for a longer, but gloriously scenic drive.
